Black Friday has been known as the kickoff to the holiday shopping season with many retailers offering stellar discounts on the day after Thanksgiving.
A few things have changed over the years with more people than ever shopping online, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and retailers making awesome deals available long before what was the busiest shopping day of the year.
Black Friday 2020 was the second busiest shopping day of the year losing out to Cyber Monday.
Data obtained by Adobe Analytics brings the expected amount of retail sales from this season’s holiday season to more than $200 billion dollars for the first time ever.
Since the pandemic, consumers have seen an increase in prices of nearly every product and food item you can think of. Along with the inflation in cost, a shortage of products are also a problem, not only for consumers but retailers as well with labor shortages being the primary culprit. Inflation and demand means shoppers will also see fewer and smaller discounts during the shopping season.
